On the road we stopped by Totnes to visit my partners friends for a few days. Here we found some great little package free shops and a wonderful local market that happens every Saturday on the 'high st'.
First lets talk about the market as that was my favourite thing about the town..
Heres a wee video.
There were many more stalls with chutneys, curries, books, delicious chocolate...
Of course we spent a bit of time at the stall with vegan, home made chocolate treats and the folk were extremely friendly. I fell in love with their products and bought a raw vegan cake and some carob halva.
Earth.Food.Love was a pleasant visit. We visited early morning before taking off further south as we were in need of some grains and pasta. As expected we spent more than we would have liked on just a few items but it was worth the visit. They had some delicious yummy treats in there also as well as local made hazelnut butter and organic Tahini on the tap.
Happy Apple was another fruit and veg shop with a nearly no plastic packaging. However, of course we wanted to buy from the 50% discount basket where everything was put into bags . . We just asked if we could take the stuff out and give them the bags to reuse which they were fine with. I like that they supplied paper bags also instead of plastic.
Another place where our friend took us was an organic store called Bens Farm Shop
Here they had a wide variety of organic fruit and veg as well as refills on many usual refill items such as nuts, grains, oils, shampoos etc. What made this place unique was its refill of organic local ciders! Pricy as always but for good reason.
I bought some delicious pomegranate 'Karma Kombucha' from here also which was delicious.
All in all it was a good package free experience in Totnes, if you are ever visiting I suggest going to the Saturday market and mingle with the locals of this wee beautiful town.
