So I was helping at a local food market in Edinburgh called Leith Market on the docks. This market is one of four where you will find independent small traders. They have a strong body of vegan traders, which is one of the first reasons I popped along.

At this particular market, there is a wide variety of prepared dishes to eat, hot and cold. They also had stalls which sold items such as organic honey, olives, coffee, cheeses, vegan fritatta, vegan sweets, breads, fruits and vegetables.

The market has such a friendly atmosphere and the great thing about these places is, apart from actually interacting with the person who has sourced your purchase and community spirit, you can really test your environmental foot print. Obviously the stalls have to provide packaging for their product. But I noticed the traders themselves bringing their tupperware boxes for foods, as well as their flasks for hot drinks/soups etc.

I'm not a big coffee drinker but for those who are I feel there is a great variety of flasks and reusable cups/bottles which we can take to any cafe and use.

I believe most cafe's even give a discount to encourage this which is amazing. I will share a link to some which I believe to be of good quality on my top tips page.
