Local treasures: The Edinburgh Beetroot Café

I wanted to give a mention to a particular woman who has been really supportive in my pledge and is a super eco warrior! Marie-Anne is the owner of a delicious vegan and environmentally conscious food box in Edinburgh.

The way she runs the cafe is beyond inspiring. Marie-Anne prepares all her dishes and stock at home and then transports everything in her bike trailer! Her food supplier is a local organic company called 'east coast organics’ whom I will talk about in a later post.

She provides only vegware containers and sells ecoffee reusable cups. She has also implemented a 20p discount for people who bring their own containers!

She has ditched plastic wrapping completely from her homemade vegan cheeses and uses paper only.

Everything is vegan, natural and absolutely delicious! Its a 100% vegan business so you don’t have to ask about every dish (though I still do by habit)

I wont go on about the vegan life style but it seems the two go hand in hand when talking about environmental issues.

If you want to visit Marie-Annes food box make it snappy! She will be moving to another location in the near future with more space for her evolving efforts.
