Urgent Detergent!

When I lived in Thailand I was traumatized by the amount of one use washing powder sachets I found hanging in the stores . . Top tip for backpackers: For activities such as a weekly wash, when I was on the road I would generally put my clothes at the bottom of the shower with me and a bar of soap unless it was a large overdue big clean. In which case, hostels used to have a huge bucket of communal washing powder, great for packaging reduction! Communal living is definitely a better way to reduce waste as is buying in bulk. If you don’t have access to a refilling store then buying a giant box of washing powder that is going to last you many months is the best option.
Otherwise, lucky for me, I live near the New Leaf Co Op so I took an old washing up bottle and refilled it! Just have to keep remembering those three R's,
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
The store uses ecover, a company who use clean, biodegradable, plant-derived ingredients that won’t add phosphates to the world’s waterways. So no nasty chemicals!
